FOLLOW-UP GUIDE

Missed incoming calls or unanswered estimates?

Both can cost you work. They need different kinds of help. Start by identifying where the conversation stops.

Email Terry about follow-up

An answering service handles the incoming call

A homeowner calls while you are on a job or outside office hours. An answering service receives the call, takes details and may schedule or dispatch within agreed rules.

If your main problem is that nobody answers the phone, inbound coverage is the capability to evaluate. Ask about operating hours, urgent calls, qualification and what the agent can actually book.

Lead follow-up happens after the inquiry

A homeowner has already contacted you or received an estimate. Someone needs to call back, retry an unanswered call, understand an objection or arrange the next step.

That is the focus of OnHand Follow-up. Real people work existing inquiries and estimates under a plan agreed with your team. We do not present this outbound service as an inbound receptionist or emergency dispatch line.

Use the symptom to choose the service

Phone rings unanswered: investigate inbound answering. Estimates sit without a decision: investigate estimate follow-up. Appointments are requested but never confirmed: inspect the handoff and booking rules.

You may have more than one problem. Fix the point where the process fails and establish who owns the next action before buying additional coverage.

Ask better questions before choosing a provider

For inbound coverage, ask what happens during an urgent call and whether appointments can be confirmed. For outbound follow-up, ask how retries work, what counts as a billable attempt and how objections are recorded.

For either service, ask who approves pricing statements, how stop requests are handled and whether you can inspect the work. Claims of “more bookings” need a clear definition of a booking.

When OnHand is the fit

Talk to us if your team has recent leads, open estimates or older opportunities that need consistent human follow-up. Bring the approximate volume and the point where the process currently stalls.

A FEW GOOD QUESTIONS

Before we talk.

Does OnHand offer 24/7 answering?

That is not the offer described on this site. We scope outbound follow-up and agreed handoffs with your team.

Can follow-up replace answering the first call?

No. Following up later does not provide live coverage when the phone first rings.

What if we already use an answering service?

We can discuss the gap after initial intake. First establish whether your existing provider already follows up and where its responsibility ends.
